Using Adobe Photoshop to create a poster

We were given two photographs and an image of a poster for the film 'Fugitive.' Using the programme Adobe Photoshop, we had to recreate the original poster of the film.

First we started with the background, by adding adjustment layers to change the appearance of the image. The first tool we used was saturation, which made the image darker and more eerie, like in the original poster. The next tool we used was the selective colour adjustment layer which created a shadow effect on the image. After this we used the burn tool to create a bright source of light from behind the trees to replicate the original poster. Finally for the background we shaded the bottom half of the poster to give it a darker colour and then created highlights by using the soft brush tool to draw the light source as a faint, cyan glow.

Once we had finished creating the background, we added another layer to place the figure on top. Using different blur tools and clipping masks, we placed the figure into the correct position as shown on the original poster. Once the figure had been placed, we added a shadow effect from the light source to make the poster look like the original. Lastly, we added the text on top of the image to complete the poster.
